North American Rescue

March 9, 2018

I spoke with Chris Hoyne of NAR(North American Rescue) about the importance of carrying a basic bleeding control kit and knowing how to use it.

North American Rescue (NAR) is dedicated to decreasing preventable death by providing the most effective and highest quality mission critical medical products to our military, federal agencies, civilian law enforcement, EMS and pre-hospital life savers.

I am always hiking, driving, or in areas where immediate help may not be. If i should ever need to administer first aid, I'd like to have both the tools and the know how to do so. The top cause of preventable death in trauma is bleeding. 20% of people who have died from traumatic injuries could have survived with quick bleeding control.

To learn more or buy a bleeding control kit, head over to their website, www.narescue.com

National Stop The Bleed Day is March 31. Get signed up for that here.

In this episode I talk with Police K9 handler, Brandon Surratt.

Brandon was the handler of, Hyco, a police dog killed in the line of duty on October 21, 2015. Since the passing of his partner Hyco, Brandon has created a petition urging lawmakers to create "Hyco's Law," which would impose stricter penalties against anyone who injures or kills a K-9 officer.

We also get into topics like gun control, school shooting, and working dogs just to name a few.
